I’ve been writing about craft beer and the Georgia General Assembly for the past four legislative sessions. And never have I thought we were as close to modernizing Georgia beer laws as we are right now.
The Georgia Craft Brewers Guild and the beer distributor lobby have come to an agreement on a bill that will change the way breweries in Georgia operate. Buying brewery tours with “souvenir” beer will be replaced with being able to just buy a beer or two by the glass in the taproom and buy a little more to take home with you. Read more about the bill here.
If that doesn’t seem like a big deal to you, check out my Georgia Beer Laws Q&A for a taste of just how backwards laws currently are in this state.
And while SB 85 makes its way through the Georgia legislature follow along at home with this post on How A (Beer) Bill Becomes A Law.
And follow me on Twitter for updates on the progress of the bill.
